Dharma Talk on 'Soul Friends’ at Shambhala Meditation Center

Dharma Talk on ‘Soul Friends’ with Stephen Cope

Why Does the Buddha Insist on the Importance of "the Spiritual Friend?"

The Buddha's best friend was a monk named Ananda. Ananda once asked
his teacher, "Is friendship a part of the spiritual life?" The Buddha replied,
"No, Ananda, not 'a part.' Spiritual friendship is the whole of the spiritual life."

In this talk, well-known author, Stephen Cope, will delve more deeply into The Buddha's statement. Why is friendship so important? What role does it play? What are the four types of friends of which The Buddha speaks? How can we develop these in our own lives?

Come enjoy the talk and stay for a reception afterwards. Bring a friend!!! Books will be available for purchase after the talk. There will be sitting from 11:00-11:45 before the talk. Stephen has graciously offered this event as a fundraiser for the Center. All money raised through registrations or for copies of books will benefit our Center. But all are welcome regardless of ability to donate. Your presence will be enough.

If you cannot make it in person when registering please respond if you will attend on-line. A zoom link will be provided if you would like to hear the dharma talk remotely.
